Artillery guns by year-end : Indian Army

After a gap of over two decades, the Army will finally get over the Bofors ghost with the Army Chief assuring that new artillery guns would be added to its inventory by the end of this year. The Army Chief on Friday said “one particular variety” of artillery guns would be inducted in “certain numbers” this year as part of the modernisation plan. These would be the first new inductions into the artillery arm after the Bofors guns were procured in the 1980’s. ingh said the Army is restructuring its offensive capabilities, particularly in the mountain sector — a reference to China — but clarified that there has been no increase in deployment of forces on the eastern border by either side.
