Saab to support South African Gripens

Saab has been awarded contracts to provide aftermarket support - as well as ancillary equipment and services - in relation to South Africa's order of 26 Gripen C and D fighters.
South Africa's Armscor corporation has awarded Saab an interim support agreement spanning the period until the fleet is fully operational. Aircraft have already been delivered and introduced to service.
The SKr44 million ($6.4 million) contract covers on-demand services, such as maintenance and engineering support, and runs from 1 November 2010 until 31 March 2012. Work will be conducted at Saab's facilities in Sweden and on-base in South Africa.

Separately, Saab has won a contract to deliver a multi-emitter environment simulator for the Gripen. This deal has a total value of SKr45 million.
The Swedish OEM will also develop and test an interface between the Gripen mission support system and the South African Air Force's intelligence system.
